Pearl TV Managing Director Anne Schelle spoke to Beet.TV about the incoming television broadcasting standard ATSC 3.0 and its potential benefits for local stations.
According to Schelle, ATSC 3.0 is poised to expand the opportunities for local broadcast stations to deliver content and monetize audiences. As an IP-based delivery standard, ATSC 3.0 will return household- and individual-level data that will help local broadcasters deliver more relevant and targeted content for their advertising partners.
“It’s a really economical pipe,” Schelle explains. “With ATSC 3.0, we can deliver information at a fraction of the cost.”
As the leader of Pearl TV, Schelle represents the views of some of the broadcasting industry’s most influential station groups. Comprised of Cox, Hearst, Raycom, TEGNA, and five other major station groups, its members operate more than 220 network-affiliated TV stations nationwide.
