Corrupted Deleted File won't allow Novell SYS volume to Remount
When a Novell 3.2 server crashes and SYS will not remount, despite Vrepair, this can be caused by a corrupted deleted file that needs to be purged. The best method is to bring up the server, then manually mount the SYS volume. Once you have done that, you will need to load the LAN drivers so you can attach from a DOS based workstation (look in the Autoexec.ncf for the specifics of the LAN driver load and bind statements). Log into the server from a DOS based workstation, then change to Root of SYS. Type PURGE *.* /ALL. This process may take several minutes. Afterwards the user should be able to reboot the server without problem.
