WideOrbit officially launches
WO Traffic for Radio
(San Francisco, CA) August 23, 2005 WideOrbit Inc .has unveiled its newest software solution with the launch of WO Traffic for Radio.
WideOrbit has had strong interest from large Radio broadcasters for several years for its core WO Traffic product. WO Traffic was designed for the Television and Cable broadcasters and is now used at over 300 installations, including several Radio stations. Over the years, WideOrbit has continued to build in features that were requested by Radio broadcasting groups, and is now introducing a radio-oriented product – WO Traffic for Radio.
WO Traffic for Radio has many compelling features not offered by the dominant radio traffic solutions used throughout the broadcast industry. Today’s new technologies and sales opportunities for broadcasters are all factored into the offerings of the new system. Among the notable features are the system’s ability to handle Multi-Station, multi-location, one terminal or 800+ Users on a single database, real time inventory, real time reports, HD Radio multi-channels, Electronic Invoicing, EDI, Internet and NTR revenue streams and Podcasts.
WO Traffic for Radio also includes several sales-oriented features like proposal writers, self-contained contact management, Sales force automation and Sarbanes-Oxley compliant reporting tools.
WideOrbit will be offering scalable systems that include the WO Traffic module and WO Sales+, the broadcast and cable industry’s most modern Sales Proposal tool offering one-click order entry after the completion of proposal negotiation. WideOrbit also offers WO Promo, another native module of WO Traffic that helps to optimize the placement of promotional inventory.
In addition, WO Traffic offers centralized management of traffic and reporting from one location for multi-station groups, and tracks market history and conditions to help broadcasters optimize pricing decisions to maximize revenue.
Michael Ambrose, an early WideOrbit employee and a co-author of the WO Traffic software, worked as a Traffic Manager at WBZ-AM in Boston and KGO/KSFO-AM, KPIX-FM, and KZQZ-FM in San Francisco. Michael is the Product Manager of WO Traffic for Radio.
"It has been fun to introduce WO Traffic to the television industry, and I am excited that radio broadcasters can now benefit from software built by broadcasters for broadcasters as well,” said Ambrose. “WO Traffic for Radio is fast, flexible, and user friendly. Radio broadcasters will wonder what took so long."
WideOrbit Founder and CEO, Eric Mathewson, stated, “WideOrbit’s mission has always been to create ‘best of class’ systems for the media industry. Since the inception of WideOrbit, we have wanted to expand into providing software for radio broadcasters. With the average age of the dominant Radio Traffic systems now more than 20 years old, we are excited to offer a next generation solution to radio broadcasters. We are also excited to leverage the deep bench of WideOrbit staff which can be measured in centuries of collective broadcast experience, rather than in years.”
“The Traffic Directors Guild of America (TDGA), a membership association of some 5,000 traffic personnel in Radio, TV and Cable, has sponsored a survey of Traffic Managers regarding their usage and satisfaction levels with all major traffic software system providers. WideOrbit has consistently received the highest overall scores in the survey of TV Traffic Managers and we look forward to continuing that record with Radio Traffic Directors,” continued Mathewson.
