WideOrbit licenses Master Control Automation software solution and announces the introduction of
WO Automation

(San Francisco, CA) March 28, 2005 – WideOrbit Inc. is pleased to announce that its groundbreaking Research, Sales, Proposal, Promo, Traffic and Billing solution will soon be complemented by a state of the art, Master Control Automation software solution called WO Automation.

WideOrbit has licensed the source code of Novus Development (Ltd.) on an exclusive basis and will be integrating the software with WideOrbit’s core WO Traffic software effective immediately.

Novus’s automation software is currently installed in a number of PBS stations throughout the United States. These stations include WXXI, KUAT, WKNO, KPBS, KCSM, WDCQ, KRMA, KBDI, NETV, AETN, KMOV, WSYX, WCTI, KRCB. Novus’s satellite record systems are currently installed at the New York Times, McGraw-Hill and several other major groups.

Frank Ivan, the primary author and software architect of Novus software, has joined WideOrbit as Senior Product Manager, WO Automation. Frank Ivan was the primary author and developer of Harris/Encoda’s MCAS II product line and has been working in master control automation for more than 30 years.

Television stations and Cable networks have long waited for a fully integrated suite of software products that were integrated from the Sales proposal through Traffic and Master Control back to Billing and Accounts Receivable. WideOrbit will now be able to offer this complete solution for the benefit of their Station and Network clients.

“We are very excited about the workflow advantages that are possible with a fully integrated Traffic and Master Control suite of software products,” said Eric R. Mathewson, Founder and CEO of WideOrbit. “We are equally excited about partnering with the New York Times to help make these integrations happen,” said Mathewson.

WO Automation is a complete Master Control Automation solution. It offers a full suite of sub-applications including Satellite Record Manager, Digital Librarian and Library Manager, Media Prep, Schedule Manager, Real time Control, and an integrated Archive Management System. WO Automation is also the first Local Area Network Centric Master Control Automation system. This distributed architecture eliminates the single point of failure that exists in traditional Master Control Automation Systems offered today.

“After being involved in the Master Control Automation business for more than 30 years, I am very much looking forward to working with WideOrbit and their software platform. The workflow advantages of an integrated Traffic and Master Control system will appeal to both multi-channel and single station broadcasters alike” stated Frank Ivan.

WideOrbit will be demonstrating WO Traffic 4.2, WO Sales+, WO Promo and WO Automation at NAB in Las Vegas. WideOrbit’s NAB Las Vegas demonstrations will be held in a private Bellagio suite. To arrange an appointment to see a demonstration, please contact Bruce Roberts, President of WideOrbit at 415 675 6721 or broberts@wideorbit.com

WideOrbit currently supports linkages to many different Master Control Automation systems including Crispin, Florical, Harris/Louth, Sundance, and Scott Studios. “As has been our custom for the last five+ years, WideOrbit will continue to support all customer requested linkages to external Master Control automation systems,” stated Mathewson. “We will also continue to encourage and support the SMPTE standards for linkages between Traffic and Master Control Automation.”
